This week we have Kaien Cruz on the cover and the first song on the playlist is called "Can't Say No" off her newest EP called Buffering... It's called this since it's "something to listen to while you wait for the album." She said that herself via an Instagram caption. We cannot wait for the album to drop if it's anything like the three songs on the EP!
Stefflon Don brings the "Juice" on her new single. I was smoking to this track and it had me in my bag! Her flow is so versatile, I can never get enough of her voice. I hope this song is foreshadowing a project sometime soon! She speaks facts in the song and my 2022 energy:
"Do this for me I ain’t worried bout you/Protecting my mental got to much to lose/Bitch you gon need me but I wont need you/I got the juice say it with me"
We all know Megan Thee Stallion has been nothing but consistent with her drops, and this time around she released "Flamin' Hottie" for her Frito Lay Super Bowl campaign. She is the voice of the Flamin' Hot Cheetos first Super Bowl commercial, super exciting! This song is only going to be available for streaming until 2-18, so get to pressing play! Megan spoke on the collaboration:
"I bring heat to everything I do, so it only made sense to partner with Flamin' Hot on this campaign."
Next up is Queen Najia with "Hate Our Love" featuring Big Sean. He is someone who Queen told Dj Whoo Kid back in 2019 would be a bucket list collab, so I can't even imagine how proud she is of this track! In the song she sings about how the haters are so mad that her and her man have an amazing love together:
"And I know that they hoping and praying on our downfall/ Praying on our downfall/Hate to see you walk away/ Won't be satisfied until we break up/ Hate it when we make up"
Let's turn things up a bit with Koffee and her new JAE-5 produced song "Pull Up". This song is off her upcoming debut album called Gifted, dropping next month on the 25th. The project is going to include some songs previously released including "West Indies" and "Lockdown". If you'd like to see her live, she's going on a USA tour this year and the tickets just went on sale!
Nicki Minaj has made a return to the rap game alongside Lil Baby on the new track "Do We Have a Problem?" This is the queen's first single since 2018, so to say the barbs were HYPE is an understatement! In the song she drops straight bars per usual ("Don't mean a rapper when I say b*tches ride the wave"). You can expect a second single coming soon as well with Lil Baby called "Bussin" and a new Nicki project this year too.
Kilo Kish follows up with "New Tricks: Art, Aesthetics, And Money" featuring Vince Staples. The song is off her second album American Gurl dropping on March 25th. She spoke about the song:
"I was inspired by the old quote warning never to bite the hand that feeds you. And though it provides, I feel yanked around by the players, trends, and expectations of our age and industry. Ever-wanting to bite, question, and change.”
The new Atlantic Records signee Tai'Aysha has teamed up with Saweetie for her debut single "One Night Ting". The song is a guaranteed hit, produced by Grammy winner
Stephen "Di Genius" McGregor AND with Saweetie?! That's how you make a debut!! They also have a music video for the song, where we see the sexy ladies living their best lives. Tai'Aysha spoke about her sound and captured it perfectly to be honest:
"I want women, when they hear me, to be like, 'You know what? I feel more confident, more sexy. When you hear my music, you're going to be like, 'Damn. I need a little drink, and I want to hit the beach."
Cali artist Jourdan Jade is last on the playlist this week with "Light Up That Weed" featuring Bay Area rapper Nef The Pharaoh. This song is going to be on her upcoming EP, Jaded. The song is so groovy and guaranteed to get you in a good mood. Sit back, light one up, and press play on Jourdan's track. The song is a stoner's dream!
